This is a beautiful Olive Commons hand-painted Florida river scene brooch with a gilt backing, painted around the first half of the 1900's. Measures approximately 2 1/4" x 7/8". Painted on porcelain, signed'OC' to the right of the palm tree on the left (see 5th photo), gilt back, with a C-clasp. In very good to excellent used shape.
Olive Commons moved from Indiana to Florida in 1908, and started a business hand-painting these brooches, and other items. She called her brooches "Cameonas" and the name is now attached to her work.
